CORE Project

The Center for Organ Recovery and Education is a “nonprofit organ procurement organization (OPO) with a federally designated service area encompassing a population of 5.5 million in western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and one county in New York” (NIST.GOV).

In my Integrated Promotions Campaign course at West Virginia University, my team and I were assigned to work with The Center for Organ Recovery and Education and create short videos for them to use on their website and other social media platforms with the end goal being to increase their online organ donor registry.

My role in this project was to create the final videos/content by editing and shortening footage taken during the organ donor recipient and health professional’s interviews recorded by other members of my group, creating appealing and eye-catching animations, and other photo graphics.

The first videos I created are of Taylor Laughlin, a 26-year-old medical professional sharing multiple common myths about being an organ donor and the organ donation process!

MYTH #1: “I am too old to donate my organs.”

MYTH #2: “If my loved one is an organ donor, we cannot have an open-casket funeral.”

MYTH #3: “If someone is an organ donor, the hospital won’t provide adequate care to save their life.”

The next video I created is of James Wiley, a 30-year-old CORE heart recipient and his personal and inspiring story.

The last video I created is a short video advertisment using animations that I made for CORE to post on their social media platforms and website. I included the QR code that I made at the end that leads viewers to the online organ donor registry website.
